Angie Does Hongdae, Seoul

Hongdae is along the Northwest banks of the Han River in Seoul. It is notable for its many colleges and universities which creates a youthful vibe. Because it is so jammed packed with entertainment, it is possible to spend the whole day in Hongdae on foot and still make it back to Pyeongtaek in time for dinner. 

Here's a look at my day in Hongdae (times are approximate):

9:00am - Pyeongtaek Station to 
Yeongdungpo Station
10:00am - catch 761 bus at Kyobang Times Square,
Shinsegae Department Store; get off at Seogyodong stop

10:30am - 943 King's Cross (Harry Potter themed cafe)
Pro tip: arrive in the morning, 
this place gets busy in the afternoon and a line starts to form out the door.

11:30am -  Kakao Friends Shop and Cafe and random shopping/wandering

12:30pm - Raccoon Cafe
I am glad we did this as it made us appreciate the next animal cafe even more but if we did it over again we would skip it and do something else instead. See list at the bottom of this post of other things to do in Hongdae.
1:30pm - Late lunch
None of us was very hungry since we grabbed breakfast before catching the train and filled up on coffee and drinks at the cafes so we just grabbed a quick bite at a chicken and beer place.

2:30pm - Meerkat Friends
If you only go to one animal cafe in Seoul, this is the one to go to. Age-restricted to 14 years and older for everyone's safety. 




4:00pm - Rage Room 
The Rage Room a room of electronics and ceramics for you to smash. I did not realize I had so much rage until I had the opportunity to release it.
Adults only for safety reasons. 


5:00pm - Head home 

5:00pm - catch the bus back to Yeongdungpo Station
5:30pm - train back to Pyeongtaek, you'll be back before 6:30pm

Pro Tip: You can switch the direction that the seats are facing on the train. 
If you are travelling in a group of 4, you can all face each other. 
Side Note: Talking on trains in South Korea is not really a thing so there really isn't much point to this feature IMO.

*Trick Eye Museum
*Ice Museum
*Love Museum
*Other animal cafes - sheep, bunnies, cat, dog!
*General shopping and eating

Location: Hongdae small neighborhood is off subway line 2 or a short bus ride from Yeongdungpo Station.

One of the things I love most about Pyeongtaek it the mix of urban and rural landscapes. I was fascinated by the rice fields that surround Pyeongtaek. Angie does Roller Skating

Angie does Roller Skating I enlisted my friend with older kids to join me to avoid being the creepy adults there alone.  I haven't been roller skating in over 20 years. When I discovered there was a roller rink in the basement of the big triangle building near AK Plaza, I invited our friends and their children to join us for some fun on wheels. It was a perfect way to spend a cold Friday evening. The rink immediately brought back memories of roller skating in elementary and middle school. The roller rink was a place for me to have fun with my friends and practice flirting with boys. Alan and I went to the roller rink at 7:00pm on a Friday night with some friends and their two children. It was busy but not crowded. Angie does Pig's Feet My general rule is to order the most unusual thing on the menu. The thinking behind that is that they wouldn't put something strange on the menu if it wasn't delicious. This same theory holds true for restaurants. When we walked past Meat Box: Pig's Feet Resturant in Sosabeol, I knew I had to try it. The meat was very tender and juicy. The beautiful plating made me forget that it was a foot (I never thought that I would say that). A must-try for an adventurous eater. There isn't an English menu and the employees did not speak English either. We ordered off the menu using translation apps and the server showed us pictures on his phone to confirm our order. I wasn't able to take pictures of the menu because of the lighting; dishes are all around the ￦30,000-￦40,000 range and feed 2+ people depending on appetite.
