Angie does Roller Skating

Angie does Roller Skating

I enlisted my friend with older kids to
join me to avoid being the creepy
adults there alone.
I haven't been roller skating in over 20 years. When I discovered there was a roller rink in the basement of the big triangle building near AK Plaza, I invited our friends and their children to join us for some fun on wheels. It was a perfect way to spend a cold Friday evening.

The rink immediately brought back memories of roller skating in elementary and middle school. The roller rink was a place for me to have fun with my friends and practice flirting with boys.

Alan and I went to the roller rink at 7:00pm on a Friday night with some friends and their two children. It was busy but not crowded. There were several families with young children, a group having a birthday party, and a handful of middle coeds, and even some adults that skated like professionals.

Remembering how to skate.
Once we remembered how to move our bodies in roller skates, we had a blast!  It is quite the workout as well. On one of our many rests, my friend asked me how long I wanted to skate. I told her at least 2 hours. She then informed me that we had only been skating for 30 minutes! Um, there was no way I could skate for another hour and a half. We stayed an hour total and left with sore quads and a healthy appetite for dinner.

My husband, friend, and I enjoyed this small rink for nostalgic reasons. My friend's children had fun skating on wheels for the first time. Her daughter even taught herself how to skate backwards (don't mind my incessant cheering in the video)!

Cost (as of this post): 10,000 won for adults and 8,000 won for children. No fee for those not skating.

Additional Information: There is a small assortment of drinks and snacks available for purchase. They seemed to be fine with outside food (the birthday party had Popeye's and the group of middle schoolers were eating noodles).
